Did you know that pork is the number 1 consumed meat in the world? Pork is also a big part of many Americans’ favorite meals. Pork chops, ribs, ham, and of course, bacon. What’s not to love? 

Many Americans, once devoted to beef and chicken, are consuming more pork now than ever before. Maybe it’s all that bacon we love on our cheeseburgers, but it adds up. The average American eats 89 pounds of pork a year. I bake a ham on holiday occasions, and prepare a roast or pork chops a couple of times a month. However, in our household, most of that 89 pounds of pork per person is most likely bacon. We love bacon!
